GIRARD — Bridge the Gap 3, the annual multigenre music event, will be tonight at Creekside Golf Dome on Route 422.

The work of Troy Napier and Jeff Killin of the local hip-hop duo DaBoonDox, Bridge the Gap is designed to showcase the diversity in the Valley’s music scene.

“We came up with the idea after Vexfest 4 in August 2007” said Napier. “We just felt that the local music scene is divided, and this was our way of unifying it.”

“We also wanted to expose local crowds to different music,” said Killin. “It seems that people won’t explore other types of music or even different venues in the Mahoning Valley music scene.”

Tonight’s show will be similar to past ones, but bigger. It also will mark DaBoonDox’s return to the stage. “We are excited to get back out on the local stage,” said Killin. The duo hasn’t performed in the Youngstown area since February.

DaBoondox has come up with a new stage show for the event. “If you haven’t been to a ’Dox show, this is the one to come to,” said Napier. The duo is known for its use of props and skits, and tonight’s show will attempt to outdo past efforts, said Napier, who added that there will be a surprise at the show.

Also scheduled to perform are The Kellys, Evilution, Eminent Domain, Eboni Watson, Dany Hedrix, Kraze tha Lost Son and Adam Jacobs.

“All I have to say is, local residents, please open up your mind, get out of your usual weekend night spots and come see homegrown entertainment,” said Napier. “We have something planned that is going to make people look at the local music scene a little closer.”

Bridge the Gap 3 begins at 9 p.m. and is a 21-and-over event. Admission is $5. Viking Jim of WNCD-FM 93 will host the event. Food will be available from Martini Brothers Restaurant inside Creekside Golf Dome.
