Staff report
LIBERTY — Police Chief Richard Tisone said the department has “good suspects” in its investigation of the Nov. 15 double homicide of Wilneice L. Green, 28, and her 13-year-old daughter, Ja-Brajasia.
They were killed at their residence, 3022 Northgate Drive.
He said the department continues to follow leads in the case. Tisone said his department is working in conjunction with Trumbull County prosecutor’s homicide task force and the Ohio Bureau of Identification and Investigation to solve the case. When the homicides occurred, Tisone was attending a conference out of town. But, he noted he was in daily contact with the department as it worked the case.
Ja-Brajasia was an eighth- grader at William S. Guy Middle School, where she sang in the school choir. She also had attended elementary school in Liberty.
The victims will be honored at 2 p.m. today during a raising of a victims flag at Trumbull County sheriff’s office.
The township has adopted the family of the homicide victims and is collecting food for Thanksgiving and Christmas. Donations may be dropped off at the township administration building, 1315 Church Hill-Hubbard Road.
Christmas gifts for girls, 12 years old and 10 months, and boys, 8 and 2 years old, also are being sought.
Monetary donations, which may be made to the Green family account, are being accepted at PNC banks. Funds are needed to pay for funeral expenses.
The L.E. Black and Phillips and Holden Funeral Home, 1951 McGuffey Road, Youngstown, is handling arrangements, which still are pending.
Capt. Toby A. Meloro described the Northgate neighborhood where the crimes occurred as basically a quiet one. The victims were new in the neighborhood, but had moved there from another place in Liberty.
Liberty’s last homicides took place in the 1990s. There was a double homicide in January 1993 of township residents Peter J. and Tressa Amon, and a fatal stabbing of Jerry K. Johnson in 1995.
