H1N1 vaccine offered

LISBON — The Columbiana County Health Department, 7360 state Route 45, has announced an H1N1 clinic today at the health department for people 6 months to 24 years old.

The department will continue to provide vaccines to pregnant women with a doctor’s referral, medical professionals and first responders.

The clinic will be offered from 9 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4 p.m. at the department. The department plans to finish the first round of clinics in county school districts Wednesday.

With continued vaccine shipments, the health department and the school districts anticipate additional vaccine clinics in mid-December to administer the second dose of vaccine for children 9 and under. Parents and students will be notified directly by their school district of these additional clinics.

The Columbiana County Health Department will expand H1N1-vaccination clinics in the coming weeks pending vaccine availability for caregivers of children under 6 months and those age 25-64 with chronic illnesses. All people are encouraged to complete vaccine registration form online at www.odh.ohio.gov in advance to ensure efficient vaccination programs.
