South Dakota State 27, Western Illinois 7

MACOMB, Ill. — Kyle Minett ran for 147 yards and two touchdowns for South Dakota State. Minett’s 39-yard run, on the second play from scrimmage following Aaron Rollin’s 45-yard kickoff return, gave the Jackrabbits (8-3, 7-1 Missouri Valley) a fast 7-0 lead. Western Illinois (1-10, 0-8) came back on Dre Gibbs’ 25-yard scoring run on the first play after Ed Roberts intercepted a South Dakota State pass. But that was the end of the scoring for the Leathernecks, although Gibbs ran for 103 yards in the game. Minett scored again on a 1-yard run in the second quarter, and Thomas O’Brien threw a 10-yard touchdown pass to Glen Fox for South Dakota State.

Illinois State 22, Northern Iowa 20

NORMAL, Ill. — Matt Lancaster’s 8-yard touchdown pass to Eyad Salem with 1 second remaining lifted Illinois State. Northern Iowa (7-4, 5-3) did not lead in the game until 44 seconds remained, when Zach Davis connected with Schuylar Oordt on a 36-yard TD pass for a 20-16 Panthers lead. But the Redbirds (6-5, 5-3) went 59 yards in five plays to win it. Lancaster hit Ben Ericksen for 24 yards and then ran for 11 to get Illinois State close to the end zone. The Redbirds built a 16-3 halftime lead on Chris Garrett’s 32-yard interception return for a score and three Zach Kutch field goals, including 52- and 51-yarders. Davis threw a pair of touchdown passes in the final 6 minutes.

Southern Illinois 42, Southeast Missouri 24

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. — Quarterback Paul McIntosh rushed for three touchdowns and threw for another to help Southern Illinois. McIntosh scored on runs of 15, 2 and 3 yards and tossed a 10-yard TD pass for the Salukis (10-1, 8-0). Matt Scheible completed 10 of 18 passes for 155 yards and two touchdowns for Southeast Missouri (2-9, 1-7). Miles Edwards caught two passes for 59 yards and two touchdowns for the Redhawks. Deji Karim, a Walter Payton Award candidate for Southern Illinois, rushed 16 times for 155 yards and two touchdowns. Southern Illinois will make its seventh straight trip to the postseason.
