The Vindicator/Robert K. Yosay INSTRUMENTAL: Children’s Concerts are accepting reservations for the “Serious Fun” youth concert to be presented by Youngstown Symphony Orchestra on March 18 at Powers Auditorium. Children in grades 1-8 in area schools have until Dec. 1 to register. Among the classical pieces Conductor Randall Fleischer has selected for the concert are “Comedian’s Gallop” by Kabalevsky, the 2nd movement of the “Surprise Symphony” by Haydn, and “Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious.” Fleischer and his wife, Heidi, have written a special piece that is appropriate to the theme of the event. Stepping up their efforts to get children registered for the concert, are, from left, Janet Vestal, Carol Fithian, Jan Szalma and Betty Bannon. Committee members will be available to help teachers explain the concert material to students.
