Political correctness is destroying us from within

Political correctness is destroying us from within

EDITOR:

The tragedy at Fort Hood was a tragic loss for the soldiers of America. May God help the families of the loved ones who were murdered. However let us lay our political correctness cards on the table. It has been reported in the news media that Maj. Hasan had a record in the Army with a lot of problems. It has been reported that even though he was born in this country he had a lot of problems with America, especially after 9/11, and blamed America for the situation.

The Army knew he was having psychological problems and really did nothing about it. He was worried about his first deployment over in Iraq and about seeing fellow Muslims killed. Well, during World War II many German Americans had to kill Germans in Europe. Many Italian Americans had to kill Italians in Europe. Many Japanese had to see fellow Japanese killed in Asia during the war, even though most Japanese Americans fought bravely in Italy. Japanese Americans made up a special unit in Italy during the war.

However, Major Hasan felt different and thought he should get out of the Army. The Army, knowing he was a Muslim probably didn’t want to offend him and did nothing. This was the same thing before 9/11. The FBI knew that certain Arabs were training at a flight school under strange circumstances but did nothing about it because they didn’t want to offend anybody. I do have to give the FBI credit though in recent years they have broke up a lot of terrorist plots by Arab Americans but you haven’t seen any f0llow-ups that much on the news. The news media probably doesn’t want to offend anybody.

I am not trying to stereotype anybody. Most Arab Americans in this country are loyal citizens and own businesses and like it here. But a large percentage, I believe, support what the major did.

I bet if a white Christian soldier was having psychological problems like Major Hasan he would have been hauled in by the Army right away. Many people in this country hate it anymore. Well, not to sound like Archie Bunker, but if you don’t like it, leave it. Not only are we being destroyed outside our boundaries, but like the Romans, we are being destroyed from within.

Redefining freedom in D.C.

EDITOR:

One could not help but be impressed with the words of U.S. Rep. Tim Ryan last week. On Monday he was quoted, “In 2009, we need to redefine freedom, and freedom in America in 2009 means being healthy and having access to a health care system that isn’t just for the elite but it’s for everybody.” On Friday he was quoted, “A strong Forum Health system is valuable to our community, and we have an obligation to keep it operational.”

He says these things knowing he was never granted the right to redefine freedom or to keep a private company operational. It must be something in the D.C. drinking water.
