3 firefighters injured in blaze
YOUNGSTOWN— A fire at a vacant house on South Hazelwood Avenue on the city’s West Side sent three firefighters to the hospital Tuesday afternoon.
Two were injured when the back porch roof collapsed and another complained of shortness of breath, said Terrence Jordon, battalion chief. All three were taken to St. Elizabeth Health Center.
Jordon said the cause of the fire was arson but officials do not know how it was started. Firefighters were alerted to the blaze at 114 S. Hazelwood around 3 p.m. and spent an hour and a half extinguishing it, he said.
No other information was available Tuesday night.
