Spreading holiday cheer

WASHINGTONVILLE — Witmer’s Inc., state Route 14, is collecting nonperishable food items until Friday to be donated to area food banks for distribution to the needy at Thanksgiving. After that date donations will be accepted for Christmas giving.

Last year a 25-bushel manure spreader was filled to overflowing with donations. This year a larger spreader is being used for items that can be dropped off from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. through Friday and from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday.
