Girard woman creates skin-care products
GIRARD — Cathy McCracken of Girard has created a line of skin-care products with the brand name of Apothecary 695. Included are products such as night repair cream, eye treatment, antioxidant serum, spot treatment, hydrating moisturizer, cleansers and wrinkle relaxer. The products will be sold at the company’s Web site, apothecary695.com, which will be available soon.
McCracken has been working for the past three years in developing the products in her home. She said she was motivated after finding out that high-priced skin-care products had ineffective additives and fillers.
Back to Health opens second office
YOUNGSTOWN — Dr. Christopher Clautti has opened a second office for Back to Health Chiropractic at 20 Federal Place, an office building operated by the city. His first office is in Boardman. Dr. Clautti is a 2005 graduate of Logan Chiropractic School in St. Louis. In addition to chiropractic services, the offices also offer massage therapy and physical therapy.
Sami Quick Stop opens new store in Boardman
BOARDMAN — Sami Quick Stop Convenience Stores has opened a new store at 5188 Youngstown-Poland Road. The store has double drive-through service and is having a month-long, grand-opening event with various promotions, including free tickets to a Cleveland Browns-Pittsburgh Steelers football game.
Warren Dialysis Center opens at Howland site
HOWLAND — The Warren Dialysis Center has opened at 8720 E. Market St. It provides hemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis and home-care dialysis to patients in the Trumbull County area. It was started in partnership with American Renal Association, Dr. Robert Orr and Dr. Daniel Barton. The ARA is a leading provider in dialysis care in the U.S., operating 80 clinics throughout the country.
JK Jewelers in Canfield
CANFIELD — Jeff Kolesar of Niles has opened JK Jewelers at 3620 Starr Centre Drive. The store buys and sells jewelry, provides watch and jewelry repairs, offers watch batteries and makes jewelry loans. Kolesar has a bachelor’s degree from Youngstown State University and is a certified gemologist with the American Gem Society. He has worked in the industry for 14 years.
Stone Springs Vineyard opens in East Palestine
EAST PALESTINE – Stone Springs Vineyard has opened at 49995 state Route 14. It offers a variety of wines, including those from Ohio, California and other countries. The owner is Jes McCrea. It is open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday and from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
Cleveland Clinic CEO defends his statement
CLEVELAND — The head of the Cleveland Clinic is defending his recent statement that if he could, he would choose not to hire obese people.
Clinic CEO Dr. Delos “Toby” Cosgrove opened a conference on obesity last week by saying his remark to The New York Times last month was intended to spur discussion. He says obesity represents a major social, economic and medical problem that should be given the same priority as efforts to curb tobacco use.
The clinic stopped giving jobs to smokers two years ago.
