YOUNGSTOWN — An Ascot Court man is going on trial Monday in a fatal two-car accident on Robinson Road in Campbell on July 11.

Scott Johnson, 37, will have his jury trial beginning at 8:30 a.m. before Judge R. Scott Krichbaum of Mahoning County Common Pleas Court.

Johnson is charged with aggravated vehicular homicide, aggravated vehicular assault, driving under the influence of alcohol and driving under license suspension.

Johnson’s front-seat passenger, Robert L. Killing Jr., 52, of Henn Hyde Road, Howland, was killed.

Johnson and his rear-seat passenger, Craig J. Davis, 24, of North Salem-Warren Road, North Jackson, were injured and taken to St. Elizabeth Health Center.

Johnson refused a drug and alcohol test at the hospital, police said.

Witnesses told police Johnson was speeding west on Robinson when the car he was driving hit a car that had stopped to turn at Robinson and 12th Street, whose driver was not hurt.

Johnson continued on Robinson past the intersection, losing control on a curve while going down a hill, leaving the road and hitting a side wall of the Ultimate Club, 56 Robinson Road.

The case is being prosecuted by J. Michael Thompson, an assistant county prosecutor. Johnson is represented by Atty. Scott Essad.
