Police arrest 18-year-old for having a gun near Campbell Memorial High School
CAMPBELL — Police arrested a man they said was seen Thursday with a gun near Campbell Memorial High School.
Police stopped Khiree Traylor, 18, in his car on Wilson Avenue near First Street at 2:50 p.m. Police said an officer approached Traylor’s car with his gun drawn and handcuffed him while he was still in the car.
A juvenile in the car with him was released to her guardians, police said. The gun was found in her purse. Traylor gave a written statement that he’d put it there, police said.
Police said today they were still taking statements and they did not have details on who spotted the gun or where Traylor was and what he was doing when they spotted it.
Traylor was arraigned this morning in Campbell Municipal Court. He is charged with carrying a concealed weapon, conveying a dangerous weapon near a school and inducing panic. He was released on $1,200 bond. His preliminary hearing is set for Nov. 20.
