Ohio State has best univeristy president, says Time magazine

COLUMBUS (AP) — Ohio State University President Gordon Gee is at the head of the class in a new Time magazine list of the 10 Best College Presidents.

Time says Gee is No. 1 because he gets things done, has a good circle of advisers and has the courage to nudge the nation’s colleges into new thinking and practices.

The magazine describes Gee as “half Orville Redenbacher, half Harold Hill,” comparing the Ohio State president to both the folksy popcorn king and the persuasive title character in the musical “The Music Man.”

Gee reacted to his recognition with modesty on Thursday, saying it’s reflection on the university. He says the work of faculty, staff, students and administrators can make any university president look good.
