4 Valley residents arrested in Utah
Staff Report
WARREN — Four Mahoning Valley residents are being detained in Utah after they were arrested on multiple charges including possession of cocaine and child abuse.
According to a news release, officers from the Iron County Sheriff’s Department arrested the three men and one woman Tuesday and confiscated about nine pounds of cocaine. The street value of the drugs is reportedly about $2 million. Police also confiscated a .38-caliber handgun in the vehicle.
Those arrested were Troy Verity, 24; India Thornhill, 26; Jason Omalley, 30; and Jonathan Latham, 28, all of Jefferson Street.
According to the release, Thornhill’s 2-year-old son and two additional children, age 11 and 13, were also in the vehicle. The two older children had no biological relation to any of the adults in the car, the release states.
Authorities said the children were in the vehicle to make the group seem less suspicious. Officers pulled the car over for a lane-travel violation as it headed north on Interstate 15 near mile marker 62. According to the release, officers smelled marijuana, leading officers to search the vehicle and find three bags of the drugs.
The three children were taken to family services.
According to the release, one of the four adults is a wanted felon in Ohio and two others have prior drug and weapon charges.
