Something out of kilter

Something out of kilter

EDITOR:

What is wrong with this picture? Many veterans must work on this holiday without any overtime pay, yet many nonveterans get the day off with full pay.

It’s not right. What is the answer?

I applaud Applebees restaurant for giving any veteran or current service person a free dinner on Veterans Day.

A proud mother of three veterans.

We appreciate your service

EDITOR:

To all veterans, active duty, reservists and guard, thank you for your service to our country. Your sacrifices and dedication to the ideals of our country are honored, especially on Veterans Day.

We encourage those not on active duty to wear your medals today to show your veteran pride so others will join us in expressing gratitude for all you’ve done to keep us safe and free.

Many helped dedicate YSU’s Armed Forces Boulevard

EDITOR:

The Office of Veterans Affairs at Youngstown State University and its advisory council is grateful to everyone who attended the university’s recent dedication of Armed Forces Boulevard.

Their presence was genuinely appreciated by not only the YSU administration, but by all of the veterans and men and women in uniform who were there to mark this historic event paying tribute to past and present military service. We would speculate one would be hard pressed to find another university in our land that would commit such valuable space to honor members of our armed forces.

The words of encouragement, support and gratitude from our guests to past and present members of the armed forces was deeply appreciated by not only the families of the honored veterans and current military, but by others in the community who continue to enjoy the blessings made possibly by their service.

May they all take pride in being there and that Armed Forces Boulevard will be a daily reminder to all who pass that way of the sacrifice and honor of those who have served, and those who continue to serve our nation.
