First swine-flu death in southwest, Pa., county confirmed

CONNELLSVILLE, Pa. (AP) — A mother of three has been identified as the first person to die of swine flu in Fayette County in southwestern Pennsylvania.

Deputy Coroner Marisa Springer says only that the woman died earlier this month. The woman was in her early 30s and did not have any other medical conditions or ailments when she died.

Springer says tests on autopsy samples confirmed the woman had the H1N1 virus, also known as the swine flu.

Friends told Pittsburgh-area media outlets that the woman was 31 years old and lived in Connellsville, about 35 miles southeast of Pittsburgh. She is survived by her parents and three young children.
