First Night Friday event planned downtown

YOUNGSTOWN – The third in a series of First Night Fridays will be this Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Cafe Cimmento, 120 E. Boardman St., downtown.

Singer Sterling Anderson, a veteran First Night Youngstown performer, will entertain. Lauren Lindvig of WFMJ-TV 21 will be guest host.

First Night Friday is a free event that highlights performers and venues of First Night Youngstown, the annual New Year’s Eve arts and entertainment celebration.

Attendees can purchase FNY admission buttons and view a gallery of past years’ logos as well as this year’s new logo, designed by Sandra Cika of InSite.

This First Night Friday event also will kick off First Night Youngstown’s Gobbler’s Run and Fun Walk, which will be Saturday. For details, call Councilman John R. Swierz at (330) 788-5114.

Registration for Gobbler’s Run and Fun Walk, which will take place downtown, will begin at 7:45 a.m. Saturday at First Night Youngstown headquarters in the City Centre One Building, 100 Federal Plaza East, Suite 150. The run will begin at 9 a.m. and the walk at 9:10 a.m.

Each event will have a male and female division with prizes as follows:

- First prize: Six FNY admission buttons; gold medallion; $25 gift card

- Second prize: Four FNY admission buttons; silver medallion

- Third prize: Two FNY admission buttons; bronze medallion

Additionally, two plaques will be awarded for the oldest and youngest participants in the event.

Entry fees are $20 for adults; $10 for teenagers up to age 18, and $5 for children 12 and under. The first 100 entrants are guaranteed a free T-shirt. Refreshments will be provided.
