Fundraiser will help teen who needs transplants
GIRARD — “Jammin’ for Jordan” promises to be a day of fun for the whole family while raising money for a 19-year-old Girard High School graduate who is in need of a heart and lung transplant.
The fundraiser is set for 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Nov. 21 at Girard City Gym, 100 W. Main St. The main event is a Zumba Master class that will begin at noon. Zumba is a high-energy, motivating Latin dance with unique moves.
Other events include a performance at 11:30 by Shining Stars, a children’s dance troupe; a Knockout Basketball Tournament at 10:30; a Chinese auction; and a 50-50 raffle. A $10 donation gets you in the door to participate in any events and enters you in a drawing for a special prize.
All proceeds go to the family of Jordan Baer, who has been diagnosed with idiopathic restrictive cardiomyopathy with pulmonary hypertension. The heart condition is a relatively rare disease that affects heart muscle fibers leading to abnormalities in heart function. Medical treatment has met with only limited success, so the best form of treatment is organ transplantation.
“Jammin’ for Jordan” will let the whole community help Jordan Baer while working up a sweat, having fun and enjoying the fellowship of local residents, classmates and friends.
