Temperatures about to fall

YOUNGSTOWN — The much-higher-than-normal temperatures the Mahoning Valley’s enjoyed these past few days will be replaced by evenings with temperatures dropping to the 30s starting Tuesday.

The high temperature for Sunday in the Mahoning Valley passed 70 degrees and is expected to do so today while the Saturday high was 66 degrees. The average high for the area for this time of the year is 51 to 52 degrees.

The high temperature is supposed to be in the upper 50s Tuesday, Friday and Saturday, and in the lower 50s on Wednesday and Thursday, according to the weather service’s forecast. The average highs for those days for the area are 49 to 50 degrees.

That’s not bad for the day, but you might want to wear a heavier coat in the evening.

The temperature will drop to the upper 30's tonight, the lower 30's Wednesday, the mid 30's Thursday, around 40 degrees Friday, and the lower 40's Saturday.

As for a long-range winter forecast for the Valley, the weather service is predicting “below normal precipitation.” That means less snow than the area’s had for the past three winters.
