Youth Theatre presents Cinderella Brunch
YOUNGSTOWN — The Youngstown Playhouse Youth Theatre will present its annual Cinderella Brunch at noon Nov. 28 and Dec. 5 and 12 at Trinity United Methodist Church, 30 W. Front St., downtown.
The brunch is an interactive experience in which children and their families have an opportunity to mingle with Cinderella, the Wicked Stepmother, the Ugly Stepsisters and other characters from the fairy tale.
Young ladies may try on the glass slipper and dance with the handsome Prince Charming.
The Fairy Godmother will be on hand to record holiday wishes in her Magic Book, and Santa Claus will make an appearance. Each child receives a special Cinderella coloring and activity book.
The production was created and directed by Patricia M. Fagan, Playhouse Youth Theatre director.
A full brunch buffet will feature scrambled eggs, link sausage, french toast sticks, fried potatoes, fruit, cereal and beverages.
Tickets are $10 for children and $12 for adults. Reservations are required and may be made by calling the Playhouse box office at (330) 788-8739.
Run and Fun Walk to benefit First Night
YOUNGSTOWN — On Saturday, First Night Youngstown will have the first Gobbler’s Run 2.5 Mile Run and Fun Walk downtown.
Registration will begin at 7:45 a.m. at First Night Youngstown Headquarters in the City Centre One Building, at 100 E. Federal St., Suite 150. The run will begin at 9 a.m., and the walk begins at 9:10 a.m.
Each event will have a male and female division with prizes. Additionally, plaques will be awarded for the oldest and youngest participants in the event.
Entry fees are $20 for adults; $10 for teenagers (age 13-18); and $5 for children 12 and under.
The first 100 entrants are guaranteed a free T-shirt. Refreshments will be provided. For more information, call Councilman John R. Swierz, FNY Gobbler’s Run chairman, at (330) 788-5111.
Polka Hall of Fame to induct Del Sinchak
CLEVELAND — At the Nov. 28 awards show, Del Sinchak of Youngstown will be inducted into the Cleveland Polka Hall of Fame and presented with the organization’s Lifetime Achievement Award. Sinchak will accept the award in person.
This is the second such honor that Sinchak has received. In 2005, the band leader was inducted into the Minnesota Hall of Fame in Chissom, Minn.
A longtime resident of the Youngstown area, Sinchak remains active performing with the Del Sinchak Band.
Film festival to show thriller ‘Tell No One’
NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. – The Jake Erhardt International Film Series will show the 2006 French thriller “Ne le dis Personne [Tell No One]” at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the Sebastian Mueller Theater in the McKelvey Campus Center of Westminster College.
A short introduction will be given before the showing, and a discussion will follow. The event is free.
Canfield High players to present ‘M*A*S*H*’
CANFIELD — The Canfield High School Players will present the comedy “M*A*S*H” at 7 p.m. Thursday and at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday in the Canfield High School auditorium.
Admission is $5 for all seats Thursday and $8 ($5 for students) Friday and Saturday. Tickets will be on sale at the door.
There will be a tribute to veterans during intermission, and a donation will be taken at the end of the play for Operation DVD, to send movies and DVDs overseas to troops.
