Girard water crews to repair break today
GIRARD — A water-main break along Liberty Street just west of Motor Inn Drive in Liberty Township about 7:30 p.m. Saturday flooded part of the road with 2 to 3 inches of water and left area residents with low water pressure or no water, the fire department said.
Girard city water crews, who are responsible for repairing the break, were to begin repairs this morning, a city police dispatcher said.
City officials decided to postpone repairs because they did not want to shut the road down Saturday evening due to heavy traffic from the first-round football playoff game at Arrowhead Stadium, the police dispatcher said. The game featured Girard vs. Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy.
A Liberty police dispatcher said that, as far as she knew, the area of ponded water was passable for traffic.
