Warren woman arrested for assaulting police officer

WARREN — Flora Myers, 51, of Porter Street Northeast pleaded innocent to felonious assault, resisting arrest and possession of drug paraphernalia charges after she reportedly bit a Warren police officer’s hand and struck him with a wine bottle Wednesday night.

Myers is in Trumbull County Jail on $35,000 bond on the single felony and two misdemeanor charges. She entered her pleas in municipal court.

Sgt. Jeff Hoolihan of the Warren Police Department was called to Myers’ house by relatives concerned for the safety of Myers’ 85-year-old mother.

Hoolihan asked the mother several times if Myers was there, and the mother said she was not, that she had moved out Tuesday.

But while Hoolihan was searching the home, Myers attacked him from behind, screaming and biting him once on the hand, Hoolihan said. Hoolihan struggled with the woman, who was large and strong, and then Myers hit him in the groin with the wine bottle, according to a police report.

With the help of other officers, Myers was handcuffed and taken to the county jail, where a suspected crack pipe was found in her hoodie.

Hoolihan received medical treatment for the bite wound.
