Boardman and Poland police calls


A summary of recent criminal activity in Poland and Boardman townships:

POLAND

Oct. 28

Identity theft: A $35 unauthorized charge was made to a debit-card account belonging to a Hamilton Avenue resident.

Oct. 29

Assault: An elderly Shetland Lane man reported a neighbor had assaulted him, though the accuser was not injured.

Oct. 30

Theft: A plastic 45-gallon trash container was taken from a yard in the 7700 block of Lee Run Road.

Theft: A complaint was filed from a residence in the 5000 block of Center Road pertaining to unfinished roof repairs.

Oct. 31

Burglary: To a Coit Road residence at which a plasma TV, jewelry and several laptop computers were among the items stolen, for an estimated loss of $10,763.

Identity theft: A report was filed in the 7000 block of Indian Trail regarding a $143 fraudulent charge to a debit card.

Nov. 1

Theft: Nineteen folding chairs were removed from Poland Township Park on U.S. Route 224.

Nov. 2

Criminal damaging: A student at Poland Seminary High School, 3199 Dobbins Road, was seen driving recklessly and placing tire ruts on a portion of school property.

Breaking and entering: Fifty feet of copper cable valued at $500 was stolen after someone had entered an Ohio Edison Co. substation on Lowellville-New Castle Road.

BOARDMAN

Oct. 30

Theft: Two Youngstown boys, 12 and 16, were charged with stealing 11 pieces of merchandise from Wal-Mart, 1300 Doral Drive.

Assault: Police responded to a fight on South Schenley Avenue, where a girl said that while walking home she was poked in the face, pushed and continually bumped in the chest area during a dispute about money owed.

Theft: A city man, 20, was accused in the theft of four pairs of earrings from Sears in the Southern Park Mall.

Recovered property: A 2001 Chevrolet Aurora that a Chester Drive man had reported stolen was located near Rush Boulevard.

Vandalism: A window at a Market Street restaurant was damaged.

Arrest: A traffic stop near South Avenue led to the arrest of a 33-year-old city man wanted on a felony charge of failure to appear in court.

Criminal damaging: A large scratch was on a vehicle in the 7700 block of Glenwood Avenue.

Vandalism: A rock was tossed at a car on Moyer Avenue, damaging its passenger-side mirror and door.

Theft: Two Canfield males, 17 and 18, were charged, accused of stealing a video game, an air horn and BBs from Wal-Mart.

Theft: Two men stole a $600 men’s leather coat from Men’s Wearhouse, 7310 Market St.

Misuse of credit cards: A Warren man discovered his two stolen cards had been used to make more than $650 worth of purchases at a Doral Drive store.

Oct. 31

Assault/theft: A woman at a Wildwood Drive home told authorities her boyfriend, during an argument, pushed her into a window, poured water over her and took her dog. She suffered several cuts to her elbows.

Theft: Three Halloween costumes were stolen from Party Max, 445 Boardman-Poland Road, resulting in a 21-year-old city woman’s being charged.

Nov. 1

Criminal damaging: Three Youngstown boys, 10, 11 and 12, faced criminal-damaging charges after two double-pane windows were broken at Lowry Fuller Fine Furniture Inc., 4120 Market St. Total damage was estimated at $300.

Breaking and entering: Someone entered All Star Driving School Inc., 6714 Market St., via a window and took an undisclosed amount of money.

Theft: A man staying at a Tiffany Boulevard motel noticed a $50 phone card missing from his room.

Theft/criminal mischief: An Appleridge Drive woman reported someone tossed toilet paper at her home and eggs on her driveway. She also said a yard sign was taken.

Theft: A $100 global-positioning-system unit was removed from a vehicle in the 7500 block of Eisenhower Drive.

Nov. 2

Identity fraud: A Glenwood Avenue man reported receiving a call regarding a $16 online purchase he never made.

Theft: A boy, 14, and two 17-year-old girls, all of Youngstown, were charged in the theft of $25 worth of clothing from Sears in the Southern Park Mall.

Misuse of a credit card: A Tippecanoe Road woman learned that someone had used her card without consent to buy $300 worth of printer ink.

Burglary: A home in the 4700 block of Lockwood Boulevard had its front door kicked in. Stolen were two TVs , two laptop computers and the contents of a dresser drawer.

Nov. 3

Theft: A 54-year-old Youngstown man charged in the theft of $14.56 worth of items from Wal-Mart also was wanted on a probation-violation count.

Misuse of a credit card: A manager at a Market Street car dealership found out a stolen credit card had been used to pay for $188.51 worth of parts, labor and service.

Theft: A man in his 20s took a $125 Cleveland Browns jersey from Champ Sports in the Southern Park Mall.

Burglary: The front door to a home in the 4800 block of Hopkins Road was kicked in, though nothing appeared to be missing.

Drug paraphernalia: A 22-year-old New Springfield man was arrested at Mahoning County Court No. 2 on Boardman-Canfield Road and charged when, officers said, a suspected crack pipe was found in his car.

Theft: A township man, 33, was charged with stealing four articles of clothing from Macy’s in the Southern Park Mall and costing the store $339.

Theft: A woman stole a sweat shirt and a pair of pajamas from Dollar General, 859 E. Midlothian Blvd., before fleeing in a vehicle.
