Holiday food drive goal is announced

YOUNGSTOWN — Great Clips of Youngstown and WFMJ-TV are sponsoring a food drive in an effort to collect more than seven tons of food to feed more than 3,500 families in Northeast Ohio during the holiday season.

Residents are asked to take nonperishable food items (no glass containers) to a Great Clips salon in Liberty Plaza, Austintown, Canfield, Boardman, Niles, Cortland or Hermitage, from now until the end of December. Those who contribute will receive a gift certificate good for $5 off a haircut during January 2010.

Cash donations will also be appreciated and will be used to supplement the work of various food banks and organizations. A $1 donation enables the Salvation Army to provide more than two hot meals to the needy.
