Surprise party honors Burfords for anniversary

POLAND — Glenn and Donna Burford, 5816 Poland Struthers Road, were honored with a surprise party the evening of May 23 on the occasion of their 50th wedding anniversary.

The party took place at the Knights of Columbus in Struthers and was by invitation.

The Burfords have three children, Gwynn Harahuc and Wendy Mangee, both of Struthers, and Donald Burford of Spokane, Wash. Hosts of the celebration were Gwynn and Paul Harahuc and Wendy and Tony Mangee.

Mrs. Burford, a homemaker, has been a Sunday and Bible school teacher for 55 years. She served in the United States Air Force from 1956 to 1959 and is commander of American Legion Post 158.

Mr. Burford retired in 1995 from Coca-Cola Co. in Youngstown, where he worked as a forklift driver. He is chaplain of American Legion Post 158 and served in the U.S. Army from 1956-1959.

The Burfords are members of Struthers Baptist Tabernacle.

On May 23, 1959, Mr. Burford and the former Donna Schweitzer were united in marriage at First Baptist Church in Struthers.
