LOWELLVILLE — Knoll Run Golf Course, 1421 Struthers-Coitsville Road, will be the site June 12 for the sixth annual Golden String Drive for the Disabled benefit golf outing.

Golden String is a nonprofit organization designed to raise funds to provide recreation and socialization activities to adults and children with multiple disabilities in the Mahoning Valley. The primary goal is to enhance the quality of life for disabled people.

All proceeds from the Golden String golf outing will go directly to activities planned for 2009 and toward renovations and additions being made to Farmer Casey’s Ranch, located on 52 acres in Cioitsville, where the Purple Cat day habilitative program will move in June.

Last year’s golf outing proceeds went directly to fund a fishing deck along the 7-acre lake on the property, which is the site of many activities for Golden String clients and an annual summer fishing camp for local high school students with disabilities.

Play will get under way with a shotgun start at 9 a.m. and will feature a four-person scramble. The cost is $70 per golfer, or $280 per foursome, and includes greens fees and a car, complimentary breakfast, lunch and dinner, beverages and event and skill prizes. Sponsorship packages are also available for companies or individuals.

A corporate package costs $600 and includes four golf participants, banner recognition and hole sponsorship. A hole sponsorship package costs $100. Monetary and product donations are also being accepted for an auction, event and skill prizes, and golfer goodie bags.

For more information about the event, sponsorships and donations, or to receive a registration form, contact Adrienne Mowry, event chair, at (330) 503-3894.

All checks should be made payable to Golden String and sent to 16 S. Phelps St., Youngstown OH 44503.
