Information session set on ministry program
YOUNGSTOWN — The Diocese of Youngstown Office of Religious Education will have an information meeting for the Loyola Institute for Ministry Extension Program (LIMEX) of Loyola University New Orleans from 7 to 8:30 p.m. June 9 at St. James Church Hall, 50 Rosemont Road, North Jackson.
Information includes the requirements, courses, tuition, spiritual formation and application for this graduate religious education and pastoral studies degree program in the diocese. Lay, religious, and ordained people engaged in church ministry, or laity who want to address themselves to their ministry in the world, are encouraged to attend.
Loyola Institute for Ministry, in cooperation with dioceses and other sponsoring agencies across the United States, Scotland, England, Canada, Switzerland and Belize, responds to the needs of ecclesial ministers by offering Catholic graduate ministry formation on-site programs leading to the master of religious education and master of pastoral studies degrees with focus areas in Christian spirituality for ministers, pastoral life and administration, youth ministry, Hispanic ministry, religion and ecology, marketplace ministry and small Christian community formation. These same programs also offer a Continuing Education Certificate (noncredit). An undergraduate option from Regis University is available for certificate students.
Ten of the courses are taken in learning groups; each course is led by a Loyola-certified facilitator. Sessions for each course employ a design in which lectures in printed form and other required and suggested readings are correlated with the participant’s experience by means of reflective processes. Students also choose two additional courses in their focus area. In these courses, a multimedia course packet is provided to students. The packet guides the students through a learning process that combines independent study and peer group sharing.
Registration for the meeting is requested but not required. Contact the diocese’s Office of Religious Education at (330) 744-8451 or visit www.lim.loyno.edu.
