Resolution supports Frederick Dodge

staff report

YOUNGSTOWN — The Mahoning County commissioners have unanimously approved a resolution in support of retaining Frederick Dodge as a Chrysler dealership.

The bankrupt Chrysler recently told the Boardman dealership it would be among many slated to close as Chrysler tries to reduce the number of its dealerships nationwide.

Commissioner David N. Ludt, who moved for passage of the resolution Thursday, said Frederick employs 55 people and is the county’s top seller of Chrysler products.

The resolution will be sent to U.S. Rep. Tim Ryan, D-17th, of Niles, and President Barack Obama.

“Whenever they need our votes, they come to Mahoning County. We’re a very strong Democratic stronghold. ... We need some attention, and we need some support in this area,” Ludt said.
