FOOD SALES AND DINNERS


THURSDAY

• Col. Louis J. Campbell VFW Post 3538, 157 Lowellville Road, Struthers, will serve a spaghetti dinner from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday. Meals will include meatballs, salad, bread and butter, and coffee. Cost is $6 for adults and $3 for children under 8. Carryout orders are $6.50 and will be available only until 6 p.m. Containers will be provided.

FRIDAY

• Holy Trinity Church, 250 Bridge St., Struthers, will sell potato, cabbage and lekvar pirogi. Orders will be taken from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday and from 8 :30 to 11 a.m. Friday at (330) 755-0064. No walk-in orders will be accepted. Orders may be picked up from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Friday. Containers will be provided. This is the last Friday sale until September.

• Holy Trinity Serbian Orthodox Church will serve fish dinners from 3:30 to 7 p.m. at the church hall, 53 Laird Ave., Youngstown. The menu will consist of baked or fried Icelandic cod or fried haddock; sides of Spanish rice, haluski, macaroni and cheese, french fries or string beans (choose two); coleslaw or applesauce; bread and butter; and coffee or tea. The cost is $9 for adults and $4.50 for children. Dessert will be an additional $1.50. Containers will be provided for takeouts. Orders will be accepted from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at (330) 792-1005.

• Holy Trinity Ukrainian Catholic Church Hall, 526 W. Rayen Ave., Youngstown, will be selling potato and potato with kraut pirogi for $5 a dozen. Orders should be placed early from 8:30 to 11 a.m. Thursday and Friday at (330) 746-9528 and are to be picked up between 10 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Friday. Hot Lunches will be available beginning at 11 a.m. Friday.

• Potato, prune and kraut pirogi will be sold at St. Joseph the Provider Church, 633 Porter Ave., Campbell. Cost is $4.50 a dozen. Phone orders may be made beginning at 8 a.m. at (330) 755-1316, and orders can be picked up beginning at noon. Patrons are asked to provide their own containers. No walk-in orders will be available. This is the final sale of the season until sales resume in September.

• Potato and cheese pirogi will be sold Friday at St. Anne Ukrainian Catholic Church, 4310 Kirk Road, Austintown. To order, call (330) 799-0084 after 6 p.m. Thursday or after 8 a.m. Friday. Pickup will be from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday. Cost is $5 per bag of one dozen (no containers necessary). Walk-ins are welcome. Patrons are asked to use the side entrance. This is the last sale of the season.

• St. Anthony Church, 1125 Turin Ave., Youngstown, will be selling pizza and other Italian treats. Orders may be placed by calling (330) 746-9577 from 6:30 to 10:30 a.m. and must be picked up by 1 p.m.

• St. Stanislaus Church, 430 Williamson Ave., Youngstown, will sell potato, kraut and cottage cheese pirogi. Advance orders will be taken at (330) 747-3024 from 8:30 to 11 a.m. Thursday and 8 to 11 Friday, based upon availability. Pickup will be by 1 p.m. Patrons are asked to provide their own containers and use the side entrance. • Salem Commandery of York Rite Masonry will have a soup and sandwich dinner from 4 to 7 p.m. at Salem Masonic Building, 788 E. State St., Salem. Dinners are $5.

SATURDAY

• St. James Episcopal Church, 7640 Glenwood Ave., Boardman, will have a free community meal from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.

SUNDAY

• The Knights of Columbus will have a spaghetti dinner from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. in St. Joseph Hall, 4545 New Road, Austintown. Proceeds will benefit the medical fund of Ed Port, who suffers from a severe facial tumor. The cost is $8 for adults and $5 for children up to age 12. Carryouts will be available.

• St. Dominic Knights of Columbus Council will be serving spaghetti dinners from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the parish center cafeteria at 3403 Southern Blvd. The cost for adults is $6, for children 13-17, $3 and for kids 12 and under, it’s free. Carryouts will be available. Mention this notice and get $1 off.

TAKING ORDERS

• Sts. Peter and Paul Church, 1025, N. Belle Vista Ave., Youngstown, is taking orders for its Flaky Strudel Sale. Apple or cherry are $8, and cherry cheese or just cheese are $9. Place orders by Tuesday by calling (330) 792-6699. Pickup will be from 9-11 a.m. June 6. All proceeds go to parish-sponsored orphanages in Ukraine.

• The Ukrainian Orthodox League of Sts. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Orthodox Church will sponsor a stuffed cabbage sale June 14, when pickup will be from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Orthodox Center, N. Belle Vista Ave. Orders will be taken only by phone until June 7. The cost is $13 a dozen. Haluski will also be on sale at $4 a quart. Call (330) 530-2048 or (330) 792-7068.

UPCOMING

• Calvary Baptist Church, 1463 Shields Road, will sponsor an authentic Amish dinner prepared by Kathryn Detweiler on June 13. There will be two seatings for the all-you-can-eat buffet style meal. Seatings will be from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. and from 6 to 7. The menu will feature roast beef, baked chicken, real mashed potatoes, gravy, coleslaw, green beans, homemade bread, pies, and butterscotch date pudding. The cost is $13 for adults, $7 for those 4 to 10, and free for children 3 and under. Tickets are available by mail or at the church office. The deadline to purchase tickets is June 3.

• Swiss steak dinners will be served from noon to 4 p.m. or until sold out on June 7 at the •Poland Masonic Temple, 7685 Youngstown-Pittsburgh Road, Poland. The cost is $8 for adults, $4 for children 6 to 12 years old, and free for kids 5 and under. Carryouts will be available.

• Poland United Methodist Church, 1940 Boardman Poland Road, Poland, will have take-out dinners available from 4 to 6 p.m. (or until sold out) June 4. The cost is $6. No need to preorder or get out of the car. Just drive to the front of the church and your meal of baked stuffed chicken breast, mashed potatoes and green beans will be ready.

• Southington United Methodist Church, state Route 305 at 534, Southington, will have a chicken dinner from 3:30 to 6 p.m. June 3. The menu includes a quarter chicken, scalloped potatoes, green beans, applesauce, coleslaw and homemade desserts. Meals are $7.50 for adults. Chicken tender meals for children 4 through 10 are $4.
