Author gives tips for sales
NEW YORK — Sales at your retail business are sliding and your customer base is dwindling, so it may be time to become the aggressively persistent salesperson.
“Retail Business Kit for Dummies” author Rick Segel gives these suggestions:
USell the customer as much as possible. Then sell them some more. Remember these four magic words: “Did you see this?”
UBecome a relentless data collector. Ask questions, observe when customers come into the store, and when they do make a purchase, collect contact information to send them information about your business.
UGet in the habit of asking customers if they have any friends or family who would like what you sell, and offer an incentive such as a gift card or discount.
People will switch facilities for better wireless service
NEW YORK — Considering changing hospitals because of poor cell phone reception?
A new study suggests people switch hotels, meeting facilities and even medical centers because of poor wireless service.
The telephone survey, conducted by Opinion Research Corporation and commissioned by wireless services company Repeated Signal Solutions, found that 54 percent of respondents said they wouldn’t return to a hotel if they couldn’t hear the other person on the line. Meanwhile, 48 percent said they would relocate their office and 36 percent would find a new medical center or hospital due to poor wireless reception.
