Action edges Sugar in eight innings


STRUTHERS — Matt Corner’s hard smash off the third baseman’s glove scored the game-winning run as Action Physical Therapy defeated Dave Sugar Excavating 3-2 in eight innings in a Class B League game at Cene Park on Monday.

The win evened Action Physical Therapy’s record at 1-1. It was the second straight extra inning loss for Dave Sugar.

Corner had three hits, including a double and two RBIs. Mike Riffe went seven innings on the mound for Action while Mark Stanovack picked up the win in relief.

Nick Benson had three hits, while GJ Senchak had a pair of singles and drove home both runs for Sugar. Dan Calai suffered the loss in relief.

Rondinelli Tuxedo 6, Roth Brothers 0

Rondinelli Tuxedo scored four times in the first inning and went on to shut out Roth Brothers for their second straight win on the season.

Rondinelli only had three hits in the four-run first but took advantage of two hit batters and a pair of walks to take the lead.

Brett Basalone had a pair of singles while Ed Reese drove home two runs for the winners.

Zack Klein tossed the first four innings for the win, allowing only two hits while Aaron McGee struck out five in three innings of relief work for the save.

Kyle Kesner and Brock McGivern had singles for Roth (1-1).

Astro Falcons 10, Youngstown Express 4

Astro pounded out 11 hits in a game Sunday night. Raul Pizarro, Jared Turocy, Shane Wagner, and Philip Woods had two hits each and Ron Sullivan went six innings for the win, allowing two runs with six strikeouts.Mike Smith had a single and a double for the Express.

Roth Bros. 6, Action P.T. 5

A bases-loaded walk to Nick Reenthaler in the bottom of the seventh inning sent home the winning run for Roth.

Kyle Kesner had two hits for Roth while Damian Shearer went two innings in relief for the win, allowing two hits. Todd Gasier had two hits and drove home a pair of runs for Action.
