AUSTINTOWN — Boy Scout Troop 84 chartered to Austintown Community Church is hosting a Scout Expo from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday at the church picnic pavilion on the back of the church property at 242 S. Canfield-Niles Road (state Route 46 South).
The event is for boys between age 10 and 18.
Troop 84 members will demonstrate Scouting skills, have a demonstration campsite and provide a free lunch.
Scouting is a year-round program. Boys who are 10 may join if they have received the Arrow of Light Award or have finished the fifth grade.
Scouting’s objectives are to strengthen character, provide personal fitness and show good citizenship.
Scoutmaster is Jerry Reid, and Tom Eft is the Troop 84 committee chairman. The troop meets every Tuesday at 7 p.m. in the church’s youth auditorium.

Liberty open house
LIBERTY — The township police department is having an open house and providing information on a senior-watch program.
Township officials and area agencies will be on hand from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the administration building to hand out resources to residents interested in learning about the program.
Those interested can also tour the police department, meet the K-9 dog, Capo, and the crisis response team, see the newly remodeled dispatch center and watch a stun-gun demonstration. Refreshments will be served.

Springfield Twp. meeting
NEW SPRINGFIELD — The Springfield Township trustees will have a special meeting concerning police business at 9 a.m. Thursday in the township administration building, 3475 E. South Range Road.
Stimulus-aid meeting
NEW CASTLE, Pa. — Anthony Ross, president of the United Way of Pennsylvania and a member of the state’s oversight board for federal stimulus funds, will be the speaker at a breakfast meeting concerning stimulus funding at 8 a.m. Friday at The Villa Banquet Center on U.S. Route 422.
The meeting is sponsored by United Way of Lawrence County.
