Meeting on backyard erosion in Struthers neighborhood

STRUTHERS — The city has scheduled a public information meeting at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the culvert on Spring Street to discuss with residents a $200,000 water erosion control project for the area affected by the creek running between Spring and Judith Lane.

The creek is eroding backyards. The project would involve construction of a 300-foot underground drain pipe made of concrete blocks to contain the creek and prevent the erosion, officials said.

Mayor Terry Stocker said representatives of Rudzik Construction of Struthers, low bidder on the project; MS Consultants, the city’s engineer; as well as members of city council and the administration will be on hand to answer questions.
