Youngstown man shot and killed; suspected crack nearby

YOUNGSTOWN — Police are investigating the murder of a 31-year-old Crandall Avenue man shot in front of a house on Samuel Avenue on the city’s South Side.

Arthur T. Mitchell was shot in the chest about 11 p.m. Thursday and later pronounced dead. Police have no suspects.

A clear plastic bag containing several rocks of suspected crack cocaine was found near the body and another bag with a large rock of suspected crack cocaine was found on Mitchell’s body, police said. A 9mm handgun in a pool of blood was found across the street from Mitchell’s body.
