Triple murderer gets three consecutive life prison terms

YOUNGSTOWN— Triple murderer Curtis Young has been sentenced to three consecutive life prisons terms without parole.

Judge Maureen A. Sweeney of the Mahoning County Common Please Court imposed the sentence on Young this morning.

Jurors, who had convicted Young of the crimes on May 8, recommended Tuesday that he serve life in prison without parole, thereby sparing Young from the death penalty.

Young, 26, of North Center Street, was convicted in the July 31, 2007, shooting deaths of Helen Moore, 29, of Cassius Avenue, who was his ex-girlfriend; her nearly full-term fetus; and her 8-year-old son, Ceonei.

The jury found Young guilty as charged of all aggravated murder counts and all firearm specifications.

The final sentencing decision was up to Judge Sweeney, but she could not impose death after the jury recommended a life sentence.
