Poland native has role in Nick Nolte movie

Jeff Hochendoner of Poland has a role in “Warriors,” a movie starring Nick Nolte that is now being shot in Pittsburgh. Hochendoner, who is a professional actor who frequently works in films shot in Pittsburgh, plays a military policeman in “Warriors.”

The Lionsgate studio film centers on Nolte’s character and his two sons, who meet in a mixed martial arts tournament championship. One son is an AWOL Marine who is being pursued by Hochendoner’s character.

“Warriors” is scheduled for a 2010 release.

Another movie that Hochendoner had a role in was released on DVD this week. “My Bloody Valentine,” which also was shot in 3-D, earned $60 million and cost $12 million to make.

Cleveland Orchestra Blossom season on sale

CLEVELAND — Individual concert tickets for The Cleveland Orchestra’s 2009 Blossom Festival season will go on sale at 9 a.m.Tuesday. The season runs 10 weekends, from July 3 through Sept. 6 and includes 19 performances. In addition to concerts by the Cleveland Orchestra, the 2009 season will feature performances by the Blossom Festival Band and the Blossom Festival Orchestra. Ballet returns to Blossom for the first time in more than 20 years with two evenings of Joffrey Ballet performances, with the Cleveland Orchestra in the orchestra pit.

Beginning this season, Lawn/General Admission tickets now allow patrons to sit on the lawn or in newly designated General Admission areas in the rear corner sections of the Pavilion, adding 1,500 lower-priced seats in the Pavilion. These seats are available on a first-come, first-served basis to any ticketholder attending the performance. Also new in 2009, children 12 and under will be admitted free to the lawn for all concerts. For each adult ticket purchase, two children will be admitted free.

Ice cream social, concert by Seraphim

Seraphim choir will present “In The Good ’Ole Summer Time,” an old-fashioned ice cream social and concert of barbershop quartet music and other favorites, at two locations.

The first event will be at 7 p.m. May 29 at Mary, Mother of Hope parish center, 124 N. Beaver St., New Castle, Pa., and the second will be at 7 p.m. May 30 at Western Star Lodge, 8387 Tod Ave., Boardman.
