Ohio House passes bill to exclude car owner home address info

COLUMBUS — Legislation prompted by the murder last year of a Dayton-area woman and the kidnapping of her young son after a car theft overwhelmingly passed the Ohio House this week.

The final vote on House Bill 50 was 95-0, and the legislation heads to the Ohio Senate for further consideration.

The bill would require the Registrar of Motor Vehicles to provide supplemental vehicle registrations excluding owners’ home address information.

Rep. John Domenick, a Democrat from Smithfield and primary sponsor, offered the legislation with hopes of protecting Ohioans from criminals who use registration information to locate and further victimize vehicle owners and their families.
