Trade group: Sandusky is most affordable for housing

TOLEDO — A report from a housing-industry trade group says Sandusky in northern Ohio has the most affordable housing market in the country.

The study released Monday by the National Association of Home Builders and Wells Fargo & Co. says 97.9 percent of homes sold in Sandusky during the first three months of the year were affordable to households who earned the area’s average income of $63,300. The average home price in Sandusky was $85,000.

The report also says Akron and the Youngstown area had two of the country’s most affordable housing markets among major metropolitan areas.

Crowds line up for year’s worth of free chicken

CINCINNATI — People started lining up about dawn in suburban Cincinnati for a restaurant’s offer of free chicken for a year.

A Chick-fil-A franchise opening today in Deerfield Township offered coupons for one free chicken dinner per week for a year to the first 100 adults in line.

The line hit 100 within hours Wednesday, making for quite a crowd planning to camp out until 6:30 a.m. today, when the coupons are to be distributed. Chick-fil-A says the total value of the coupons is about $26,000.
