Miss Benkowski, Mr. Smaka plan to wed this fall

EAST PALESTINE — Announced by Richard and Barbara Benkowski of East Palestine is the engagement of their daughter, Krystin Benkowski, also of East Palestine, and Alan Smaka, of Baroda, Mich.

The future groom is a son of Wil and Marilyn Smaka of Baroda, and Ed and Anita Trujillo of Benton Harbor, Mich.

The couple will be married this fall at Our Lady of Lourdes Church.

The bride-elect graduated from Gannon University in Erie, Pa., with a bachelor’s degree in mathematics. She is pursuing a master’s in applied mathematics at Marquette University in Milwaukee.

The prospective groom graduated from Purdue University in West Lafayette, Ind., with bachelor’s degrees in civil engineering and land surveying. He is a civil engineer with Wightman and Associates Inc. in Benton Harbor.
