Fake money is again passed in Boardman

BOARDMAN — Police are investigating a report that two women passed fake money to pay for $350 worth of merchandise at a Doral Drive discount store.

A Wal-Mart store security officer told police that in the early hours of Tuesday, two women bought about $213 worth of merchandise, handing the cashier what appeared to be $215 in cash. Only a $5 and a $10 bill were real with the remaining counterfeit, a police report said.

One of the women then came back and bought a $175 store gift card with $150 of it paid with fake bills.

Last week, someone used fake $100 bills at the Cinemark Tinseltown and Movies 8 movie theaters.

Target and Sam’s Club also have received fake money in recent weeks.
