A summary of recent criminal activity in Girard, Hubbard and Liberty:

GIRARD

May 18

Drugs: Officers received a call about an unwanted person in the 600 block of Trumbull Avenue and charged the Girard woman with possession of drug-abuse instruments. She also was wanted on a warrant from Youngstown charging her with criminal trespassing.

Identity fraud: A Girard woman told police of receiving a call from someone with a collection agency, stating she had a $1,200 outstanding balance on a credit-card account she had never opened.

Assault: A man reported two males jumped him on Howard Street, then knocked the accuser to the ground and struck him in the head.

Theft: Two digital cameras, a Nintendo Wii game system and an Xbox system were taken from a home in the 1100 block of Washington Avenue, resulting in an $800 loss.

Breaking and entering: Someone entered a vacant residence in the 200 block of North Ward Avenue and stole two saws from the basement.

May 19

Identity fraud: A gas company contacted a Girard woman seeking to place a utility in her name, informing her of an outstanding balance of more than $2,000 that originated from a Youngstown address unfamiliar to the woman.

Menacing: A Davis Street man said a neighbor threatened to beat him up.

Burglary: To a home in the 500 block of Washington Avenue. Stolen were several pieces of jewelry, two MP3 players, a laptop computer, clothing, money and an Xbox 360 game system.

Aggravated menacing: Officers responded to a dispute between neighbors on South Randolph Avenue, where two people reported an intoxicated man threatened to slice their throats and burn down their home.

Identity fraud: A Plymouth Avenue man alleged his wife, without authorization, filled out unemployment claims in his name and placed money in a prepaid account.

Attempted breaking and entering: To a garage in the 500 block of Powers Avenue.

Theft: A Girard woman was charged in the theft of a hair clip from Santisi’s IGA Super Center, 419 N. State St.

Drugs: A charge was pending against a Girard boy after a woman told authorities her 14-year-old son came home sick after he admitted having smoked marijuana provided by another boy at a Church Hill Road apartment.

HUBBARD

May 15

Arrest: A traffic stop near North Main Street resulted in the arrest of a Girard man wanted on a warrant from Mahoning County charging him with a probation violation.

Theft: Two extension cords were stolen from an East Park Avenue home.

Arrest: The Girard Municipal Court issued a warrant accusing a Hubbard woman of failure to appear in court for arraignment on charges of theft and falsification.

May 16

Theft: Items were removed from a Palmetto Drive residence.

May 19

Arrest: A Hubbard man held in the Trumbull County Jail was wanted by the Girard Municipal Court on traffic and drug charges.

LIBERTY

May 15

Drug paraphernalia: A vehicle was pulled over near Goleta Avenue, where a 55-year-old Youngstown woman was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia. A glass crack pipe was found, police said.

Theft: A worker with Penguin Check Cashing, 3233 Belmont Ave., conducted a daily cash balance and discovered the loss of an undisclosed amount of money.

Theft: The driver of a silver 2003 Hyundai left a Unimart station, 2703 Belmont Ave., without paying for $28 worth of gasoline.

May 16

Aggravated menacing: A Canton man alleged a city man, 50, at a Belmont Avenue business pushed a broom handle toward the accuser’s face after becoming irate over a $45 debt.

Arrest: A Girard man, 39, faced charges of driving under the influence and reckless operation of a motor vehicle after having been stopped in the 4700 block of Belmont Avenue. The man drove on state Route 193 in excess of 90 mph and disregarded traffic signals, police said.

Theft: A Girard man, 36, was charged, accused of failing to pay a $65 food bill at Youngstown Crab Co., 3917 Belmont Ave.

May 17

Theft: A charge was pending against a Niles man, 20, after the man’s mother said she caught him stealing property from her home. Fifty DVDs and a BB/pellet gun were missing, a report showed.

Arrest: Authorities answered a report of two suspicious people in the 3400 block of Belmont Avenue and charged a 15-year-old Youngstown boy with juvenile offenses, falsification and resisting arrest. When confronted, the teen claimed not to remember his personal information, then ran from police before they had to use a Taser, a report said.

Theft: A woman in a green Jeep pumped $10 worth of gasoline and left a Unimart station without paying.

Identity fraud: A Holly Drive woman learned someone had used her identity to obtain a check card before discovering 11 unauthorized transactions totaling $276.

Forgery: A Youngstown couple told officers an employee with a Belmont Avenue bank informed them of suspicious activity regarding their checking account. The bank received two $1,850 counterfeit drafts drawn on the couple’s account, a report showed.

Arrest: A 43-year-old Youngstown man was charged with obstructing official business after police responded to the 1100 block of Church Hill Road. It took authorities more than 15 minutes to get the man’s correct personal information, a report said.

May 18

Assault: A teenager leaving a Belmont Avenue restaurant reported having been punched in the right eye while in his vehicle. He needed seven stitches for his injury, a report said.

Burglary: Someone stole a 32-inch flat-screen TV and three plastic DVD cases after having kicked in the front door to a residence in the 900 block of Tibbetts-Wick Road.

Theft: A Gypsy Lane woman accused an acquaintance of taking her debit card and withdrawing $200 without consent.

May 19

Theft: A Youngstown woman’s $900 necklace was missing from a room at a Motor Inn Drive motel.

Theft: The Ohio State Highway Patrol turned a Youngstown man, 37, over to Liberty authorities. He was wanted on a theft count.

Theft/damage: Someone broke into a vehicle for sale near Belmont Avenue and Goldie Road via a rear window before removing an AM/FM/compact-disc player and a TV.

Arrest: Police responded to a dispute in the 4000 block of Madison Road and took into custody a 38-year-old Youngstown man accused of violating a protection order.
