Sugarland leads pack for CMT nominations
NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Sugarland leads all the nominees announced Tuesday for Country Music Television’s awards show next month with five nominations. Brad Paisley and Taylor Swift are next with four each, then Rascal Flatts and Lady Antebellum with three fan-voted nominations apiece.
Sugarland is nominated twice for duo video of the year — for “All I Want to Do” and “Already Gone.” They also received two for “Life in a Northern Town” with Little Big Town and Jake Owen: collaborative video and performance of the year. Their final nod is video of the year for “All I Want to Do.”
Viewers cast more than 2.5 million votes to decide four finalists in most categories. Fans can vote online at CMT.com through June 15 to determine the winners. The awards show will be June 16.
Ohio students don’t see their city in new TV show
LIMA, Ohio — Students in Ohio say they don’t recognize much in a new TV high school musical supposedly set in their town.
Members of the Lima Senior High School choir were treated to an early viewing of “Glee,” a series about a high school glee club that premiered on the Fox network Tuesday night. Show creator Ryan Murphy says he made Lima the setting based on memories he had of the city from growing up across the state line in Indiana.
The Lima Senior students said their school colors and cheerleaders’ uniforms are like the ones on the show and that they share the characters’ love of music. But otherwise they found few similarities to their school or community.
