OCCHA schedules Latin Food Fest

YOUNGSTOWN — OCCHA’s second annual Latin Food Fest will take place from noon to 7 p.m. May 30 at 3660 Shirley Road. Come and enjoy the flavors of the Caribbean.

Eat in or take out your choice of roast pork for $10 or barbecued chicken for $8 with either arroz con gandules (yellow rice) or arroz blanco y habichuelas (white rice with stewed beans) and salad. Side orders will also be available. Kids’ meals of hot dogs, chips and a drink will be $3. Also featured will be music and entertainment.

OCCHA is a nonprofit agency striving to help those in the Mahoning Valley who are less fortunate.

Guy’s barbecue sauce to raise NOAS funds

HOWLAND — Guy’s Award-Winning Barbecue Sauce,” with brisket, chicken and ribs will be at Hunter’s Square Plaza from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on BBQ Day, Saturday, for lunch or takeout.

Guy Hughes is a former member of Northeast Ohio Adoption Services Board of Trustees. He is donating a portion of the proceeds to support adoption through NOAS. His sauce is now sold in 25 states, in local stores and at rib burn-offs.

The NOAS Annual Spring Flower Sale tent will also be open and selling hanging baskets, flats and herbs.

The plaza is two blocks east of Route 46 on Old Route 82. Proceeds of both projects will help NOAS locate and train needed adoptive families.
