A summary of recent criminal activity in Poland and Boardman townships:

POLAND

May 14

Identity theft: A report was filed from a Hunters Hill Drive residence in which someone had used a credit-card account to make unauthorized purchases in Chicago.

Drugs: A traffic stop near Riverside Drive resulted in the arrest of a 23-year-old New Castle, Pa., woman on a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia. Two suspected marijuana pipes were found, police said.

Theft: Someone stole a $1,500 dual-axle horse trailer from property in the 6200 block of Struthers Road.

May 15

Drugs: Officers pulled over a vehicle on state Route 170 and charged a township man, 49, with possession of drugs and operating a vehicle impaired. He had unlawful possession of eight Vicodin tablets, a report said.

May 16

Weapons: An Austintown man, 19, and a Youngstown man, 22, were charged with carrying concealed weapons after having been stopped near U.S. Route 224. Found were a knife and a set of brass knuckles, authorities said.

Drugs: A Poland man, 24, faced a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia when, police said, a bag containing 0.2 grams of suspected marijuana was discovered during a traffic stop near Manor Avenue.

BOARDMAN

May 14

Breaking and entering: Someone entered a garage in the 1700 block of Mathews Road before stealing a $160 mountain bike and a $250 baseball bat.

Criminal damaging: A front window pane was broken in the 200 block of Charles Avenue.

Burglary: A 21-year-old North Lima man was charged after police responded to a burglary in progress in the 7400 block of Oregon Trail. Two people said they saw the suspect in the vacant home, which had been entered via a side window, a report showed.

Theft: Two Warren women, 32 and 35, were charged in the theft of two digital cameras, four video games and five DVD packs from Target, 417 Boardman-Poland Road. One woman also was charged with possession of criminal tools.

Assault: Authorities booked a Salem man, 41, at the Mahoning County Jail, who had surrendered. Earlier, a township man alleged his girlfriend’s father choked the accuser, threw him to the ground and kicked him in the chest, causing him to seek medical treatment.

Arrest: A 54-year-old Boardman man was arrested on a warrant charging him with failure to pay fines.

Assault: A woman told officers her teenage son had been assaulted while playing in a yard in the 7200 block of Sheldon Avenue. The teen had small cuts and a few bruises.

Bad check: A worker for Checksmart, 112 Boardman-Poland Road, reported someone tried to cash a counterfeit $2,870 check.

Arrest: Officers responded to a disturbance in the 4000 block of South Avenue, then took into custody a 17-year-old Campbell boy wanted on a pick-up order issued by the Martin P. Joyce Juvenile Justice Center in Youngstown.

Criminal damaging: Someone broke a vehicle’s passenger-side window at a South Avenue dealership.

Theft: A South Avenue doctor discovered money and jewelry missing from an office.

Menacing: A Southern Boulevard man received a call containing threats of bodily harm.

Criminal damaging: A key was used to damage the finish on a car’s driver’s-side door at a South Avenue store.

Identity theft: A Brainard Drive woman found an unauthorized transaction had been made to her debit-card account.

Theft/bad check: Two women wrote a check at Family Dollar, 4026 South Ave., that failed to clear before stealing $179 worth of merchandise.

May 15

Theft: A woman’s wallet was stolen while she patronized a Boardman-Poland Road store.

Criminal damaging: Someone tossed eggs at a home in the 6600 block of Appleridge Circle.

Theft: A Youngstown girl, 17, was charged in the theft of a $35 bracelet from Wal-Mart, 1300 Doral Drive.

Bad check: Authorities booked a township woman, 25, on a warrant accusing her of passing a bad check.

May 16

Assault/damage: A man suffered a swollen left cheek after having been assaulted during an argument with another driver in the 1800 block of Lealand Avenue. The accuser’s passenger-side mirror was broken during the incident.

Theft: A 31-year-old Boardman man was charged, accused of taking $37 worth of merchandise from Sears in the Southern Park Mall.

Burglary: A computer and a 21-inch, flat-screen monitor were missing from a Mathews Road home that had been entered through a rear window.

Assault: Officers answered a call regarding a fight between two people at a baseball field off Glenwood Avenue and were met by a man bleeding slightly from the forehead. The other man had no visible injuries, a report showed.

Identity theft: A township woman reported her elderly aunt received about 15 calls at all hours from a person trying to collect money, apparently after someone had used the aunt’s phone number when filling out various credit applications.

Theft: A woman in her 20s took a pair of shoes, an undergarment and a shirt from Burlington Coat Factory, 529 Boardman-Canfield Road.

May 17

Criminal mischief: Someone in the 20 block of Arlene Avenue struck a car with eggs.

Theft: A 46-year-old Youngstown man was charged after 10 pieces of merchandise were taken from Wal-Mart.

Theft: After $67 worth of items was stolen from Gabriel Bros., 850 Boardman-Poland Road, a charge was filed against an 18-year-old Leavittsburg woman.

Criminal damaging: A patio window was broken in the 3900 block of Arden Boulevard.

Aggravated menacing: An Island Drive woman told police of receiving 23 unwanted calls, on one of which a man had threatened to kill her dog and family, and burn down her residence.

Criminal damaging: Eggs were thrown at a vehicle in the 6600 block of Ronjoy Place.

Endangerment: Police received a call about a 5-year-old boy walking alone in the 6600 block of Market Street. The child was found crying but uninjured.

Disrupting public services: A Boardman School District bus driver reported that while picking up a student on South Cadillac Drive, the student’s father boarded without permission and spoke to the driver in a menacing manner, making her temporarily unable to continue her route.
