Two suspected in burglary, theft case

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. — Two people involved in an accident that killed a man are suspects in a burglary and a theft case, New Wilmington police said.
Hanna E. Miljevich, 21, and Vern Sipe Jr., 19, both of New Castle, remain hospitalized in St. Elizabeth Health Center, police said.
Miljevich was driving a southbound pickup truck when it crossed into the northbound lane on state Route 18 at 7:15 a.m. Friday, hitting another car driven by Ronald E. Holt, 67, of Pulaski-Mercer Road in Pulaski, Pa. Holt died at the scene.
Police said state troopers investigating the accident found numerous items at the scene from the Amish Peddler, a store at 405 E. Neshannock Ave. in the borough.
Police said a burglary occurred at the store between 5:05 a.m. and 5:20 a.m. Friday.
The front doors of the business were pried open and furniture and gift items were taken, police said. They haven’t determined a value.
Also found at the crash were a laptop computer and clothes that were reported stolen from a car on the Westminster College campus Thursday night, police said.
Sipe had been stopped in New Wilmington at 3:30 a.m. Friday for careless driving, police said. Miljevich was a passenger in the truck at the time.
