Columbiana run to benefit veterans at Air Force base

COLUMBIANA — The Second Annual Vision for Veterans 5K run will be Friday at Firestone Park with events for youths and adults.
Proceeds will go to the Fisher House at Wright Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton that provides housing for service personnel or their families that are receiving medical care at the air base.
The cost for the run is $15 for adults and $10 for youths.
On race day, registration ends a half-hour before each event.
Events are 5:30 p.m., kids’ race for children 9 and under; 6:15 p.m., start of 1-mile fun walk; 7 p.m., start of the 5K evening walk; 7:15 p.m., start of the 5K evening run.
The 5K run will begin on the track in Firestone Park, and the course will take runners through the park and the surrounding residential neighborhoods before bringing runners back for a finish on the track.
Awards will be presented at 8:30 p.m. at the gazebo behind the track. The top three overall male and female winners in the 5K race will receive awards and $100 for first place, $50 for second place and $25 for third.
There also will be awards for a number of different categories.
