Horse show for charity

CANFIELD —The Inter-county Horsemen’s Association will have the second annual Red, White and Blue Charity Horse Show to benefit Second Harvest Food Bank of the Mahoning Valley at the Canfield Fairgrounds from Friday through Sunday.

Admission is free all three days, but patrons are asked to bring nonperishable food items for the food bank. Those attending the dessert and exhibitors party are also asked to bring nonperishable items. A monetary donation also will be given to the food bank after expenses are paid.

The shows, which primarily feature American Saddlebred, Arabian, Morgan and Hackney ponies, start at noon Friday, 9 a.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. Sunday. For more information, call John Reynolds at (330) 717-1793.

Second Harvest provides food to 155 hunger-relief organizations in Columbiana, Mahoning and Trumbull counties.

Temporary closing

CORTLAND — The Cortland Branch of Warren-Trumbull County Public Library, 212 N. High St., will be closed this week for parking-lot resurfacing. In addition to providing a smoother surface for customers’ vehicles, the project also will add 10 parking spots. The library closing is weather-dependent; a heavy rain would force a delay.

Customers with items due next week will not be charged late fees if the items are returned by May 26.

Elevator job postponed

YOUNGSTOWN — An upgrade on the elevator at the Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County’s main library, 305 Wick Ave., which was previously scheduled for Monday through Wednesday, was postponed by Otis Elevator. Therefore, the primary elevator at the library will be operating on those days.

The elevator is important to patrons with disabilities to carry them to the lower level, the mezzanine and the second floor, where they can use computers and the meeting room and get reference and business information. Patrons and the media will be notified when the installation is rescheduled, said Janet Loew, the library’s communication and public relations director.
