Gala party May 28 to mark Butler’s 90th anniversary

YOUNGSTOWN — The Butler Institute of American Art, 524 Wick Ave., which was established in 1919 as the first museum dedicated exclusively to American Art, will celebrate its 90th anniversary during a gala party on May 28.

Black tie is optional for the gala party, scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m. with cocktails and hors d’oeuvres (open bar), and a gourmet dinner at 7:30.

Featured will be an exhibition of 50 silver gelatin photographs by the guest of honor, Jessica Lange, artist/actor. Also on view will be selections from the Butler’s 1919 inaugural exhibition.

Those attending the gala will receive a special Chen Chi remembrance gift from the artist’s personal archive.

The cost for the evening is $90 for members and $100 for nonmembers.
