Fundraisers set up to help officer, 3 women hurt in fire

Accounts have been established for donations.

WARREN — The Warren Fraternal Order of Police lodge, Fairhaven Programs and others are sponsoring five fundraisers in the upcoming weeks to assist the victims of an April 28 house-fire on Bonnie Brae Avenue Northeast.

The fire injured the three women who lived there — Sheree Egry, 53, Donna Cassidy, 52, and Melissa Watson, 44 — and Warren Patrolman Doug Hipple, who entered the burning house to rescue the women but got trapped inside with them.

Police are still investigating to determine who set the early-morning fire, which has been ruled arson.

The four were taken to the Akron Children’s Hospital Burn Center, where Cassidy and Watson have been upgraded to serious condition. The hospital gave out no information on Hipple or Egry, who previously were listed in critical condition.
