Women entrepreneurs

YOUNGSTOWN — Women entrepreneurs are invited to a dinner and panel discussion from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the DeBartolo Stadium Club at Youngstown State University.

Avalon Holdings reports a loss of $400,000

HOWLAND — Avalon Holdings Corp. lost $400,000 in the first quarter of this year on net operating revenues of $8.8 million, compared with a loss of $100,000 on revenues of $10.4 million in the same quarter of last year. Avalon owns three area golf courses and provides waste management services.

Apprenticeship competition

BOARDMAN — Apprentices from Ironworkers locals in Cleveland, Pittsburgh, Toledo, Canton and Wheeling, W.Va., are in Boardman today for an apprenticeship competition.

Participants are judged on specific skills, such as welding, torch cutting and climbing a 35-foot steel column. The competition is at Local 267 on Bev Road.
