BOARDMAN — Casey Lower had 15 strikeouts in the eight-inning four-hitter at Fields of Dreams. Rebecca Hartz led off the bottom of the eight inning with her second single of the game. Hartz stole both second and third bases before scoring on a one-out base hit by Sarah Ingalls. Krista Byers also had two singles and three stolen bases for Ursuline (20-5). Blaine Chapman, Angela Giuliano, Melissa Smith and Kaitlyn Gumina had singles for Newton Falls (9-9). Thursday, the Irish play United in a district semifinal at 6 p.m. at Lisbon, where Champion and South Range play at 4:30.
Champion 10, Girard 0
CHAMPION — Lindsay Swipas pitched a three-hitter with eight strikeouts and no walks for Champion. Swipas is 7-5. Katie Saluga had a double, single and three RBIs while Alison Sorber had a single, two sacrifice flies and three RBIs to lead the Golden Flashes. Champion (17-5) advanced to play South Range (18-6). Girard is 11-8.

Fitch 10, Harding 0
AUSTINTOWN — Heidi Soriano pitched a two-hitter with nine strikeouts to lead Fitch in a regular-season game. Haley Martinelli had two singles and two RBIs to spark Fitch. Emily Purnell and Megan Carney each had a single and two RBIs. Amanda Callahan rapped three singles and Alyssa Jones two to aid the Falcons. Kacie Donahue scored Fitch’s go-ahead run in the first inning on a passed ball.
Poland 11, Beaver Local 0
LISBON — Jenna Modic struck out eight and walked three during a five-inning, two-hitter for Poland (21-3, 7-0 All-American Conference Red Tier). Emily Chandler had three hits including two doubles while Erin Gabriel had a solo homer to open the game. Karah Pierce and Jessica D’Apolito had two hits apiece for the Bulldogs, who already have a share of the AAC Red Tier championship, entering Monday’s game at home against Canfield. Ashley Barrett and Megan Jones had the only hits for Beaver Local.
Boardman 5, Canton GlenOak 1
Shannon Morrow pitched a two-hitter with nine strikeouts and also blasted a solo homer to lead Boardman (18-6, 6-5 Federal League). Morrow (5-0), Danielle Petrus and Julie Olbrych all had multiple hits for the Spartans.

Mooney 14, Ursuline 1
STRUTHERS — Marc Warchol pitched a two-hitter for Mooney (17-4), which unleashed a 15-hit attack. Brad Byers, Colin Hart and Boo Vazquez each had three hits to lead Mooney while Anthony Franceschelli and Mike Piesto added two hits apiece. Ursuline is 10-9.
South Range 15, Mineral Ridge 0
MINERAL RIDGE — John Deamicis pitched a five-inning three-hitter and Chris Gause had a two-run homer for the Raiders (14-10). Vince Miller had five RBIs for South Range, which concluded Inter Tri-County League Tier One play at 9-5.
Columbiana 6, East Palestine 3
EAST PALESTINE — Josh Saverko hit safely twice and Matt Douglas drove in a pair as Columbiana (13-1) wrapped up the ITCL1 crown. Jeff Davidson threw a complete-game five-hitter with seven strikeouts for the Clippers who led 6-0 after six innings.
Mathews 7, Badger 6
VIENNA — Rick Sommers pitched 6 2/3 innings of five-hit relief as Mathews held on for the win, which enabled the Mustangs to remain tied with Maplewood for the Northeastern Athletic Conference lead. Jake Swank had three hits and three RBIs, while Greg Wise batted in two runs for the winners (19-4, 12-1). Collin Bowser and John Homan had two hits apiece for Mathews.
Girard 11, Salem 5
SALEM – Tallen Birmingham had a double and three RBIs to lead Girard (14-5). Daniel Gainey, Aaron Jennings and A.J. Weibel each had a single and one RBI to aid the Indians. Dante Delbene added two singles. For Salem (4-17), Nick Lesky had two singles and two RBIs while Dan Fortney added two singles and one RBI and Tim Eddinger one single and one RBI. Also, Brandon Simmons and Dan Gagnon contributed two singles apiece for the Quakers.
